DoubleTwist now allows Amazon MP3 downloads.

DoubleTwist, which is arguably the best alternative to iTunes (in my opinion its better) now allows you to download songs from Amazon MP3 store directly through its desktop software. DoubleTwist is known for allowing all sorts of third party devices including our beloved Palm Pre sync music to and from iTunes or any other music sources you have on your computer. Since our Pre's have the Amazon MP3 store built in and Palm allows MP3 downloads over EVDO it makes perfect sense. If you don't like iTunes, which many people don't, you can use DoubleTwist as a fantastic alternative. DoubleTwist also pulls directly from your iTunes library without you having to move songs or folders at all. It really is an easy switch and I recommend you give it a try!

Wouldn't it be great if they were platform agnostic as well and allowed Linux to use their stuff? Then I wouldn't dismiss it outright! :)

for me doubletwist is unusable. it's ridiculously slow to load my libraries. Sorry, itunes isn't perfect but its way faster then doubletwist has more features, it's more responsive to clicks, doesn't need to reload my library every time i click a file (talking waiting 30 seconds between clicks) it has a host of other issues i'm not fond of.

i wish someone made a barebones media manager with the same layout as itunes and using 1/3rd the system resouces but at the moment the alternatives hog more, or just don't perform. that well. Media monkey is decent and so is winamp. don't know how they handle a pre though.
