Huge speed improvement coming to WebOS in 1.3 because of the GPU?

The biggest concern with the Pre so far is speed. Every single update has shown us a tiny speed bump which seems to quickly fade away after a week or two of use. Well the UI is set to receive a huge speed bump in one of the next updates very soon and it may be because Palm has finally decided to use the powerful GPU inside the Pre. According to Everythingpre Ben and Dion of Palm were quoted at a London event saying,
"On ease of use, multitasking has been great; UI latency is still an issue even though the hardware is comparable to 3GS. The problem is the path to the GPU didn’t exist, but now with CSS transforms, that will be solved in the immediate future."
Oh heavens this is amazing news! The UI is undoubtedly sluggish from time to time even though it is usable, it can be frustrating. With this coming from Palm everyone can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this was on Palm's mind and Palm has not forgotten the importance of speed. We don't know exactly when it is going to come because they said 'immediate' not exactly what update it will be in. However, 1.3 is right around the corner, scheduled to land sometime on or before Pixi launch and a speed improvement will be a welcome feature especially because the Pixi's hardware is a bit weaker than the Pre. Let's keep our fingers crossed in hopes this will be out sooner rather than later

what is the UI? the GPU?
Yes please!
They only just hired the GPU guy last week ... so he has to come up to speed, do his job, get it through release and QA in how many days or weeks?
Dream on if you're hoping it will be in 1.3 ... ;-)

The UI = User Interface GPU = Graphics Processing Unit. They did just hire the guy from AMD this is true. Let's keep our fingers crossed this gets pushed out soon.
Oh this would make me so happy I can't even begin to say how happy I would be if this were true
