Best Buy Will Offer The Palm Pre for $200 - No Rebate Required

Yesterday, Sprint announced that it will charge $200 for the Palm Pre, but to get that price customers will have to send in a mail-in rebate. There's a way to get this same price without the hassle: go to Best Buy.

This retailer will have Palm's latest smartphone in its stores on the launch day, June 6, and will be selling this device at $200 with an instant rebate, not a mail-in one.

To get this price, customers will still have to commit toa  two-year service plan, a requirement that's become standard for discounts on smartphone purchases in the U.S.

Does Best Buy charge the activation fee? Has anybody had success in getting that fee waived there?

Can existing Spring customers get the upgrade price of $200?

Existing sprint customers can get the $200 price if you are off contract OR if you are a S|P customer with 1+ year of contract used.

If you are a year or two into your contract, will you still get the discount for upgrading?

Chatted with a couple mobile phone guys at Best Buy today. They said due to limited supply they could only say there would be "at least one unit available at each Best Buy location"
