Palm Pre to Not Have Visual Voice Mail???

In the screen capture (since the link to view the actual tweet is no longer there?), a conversation between Palm Inc. (now known as just Palm on Twitter) and kirkyuhnke addresses the visual voice mail questions, which we all thought was going to be a no brainer on the Palm Pre. Well, according to the response by Palm states "Palm Synergy presents integrated messaging in lots of useful ways, but not that particular way".
Does this mean this will be part of a future app or is Palm being tight lipped about the OS, since we still haven't seen the whole OS?
Thanks Kirk! Here is the link to the Palm Tweet where this was mentioned.

Yeah, this is definitely a stupd move. It's another freebie they're giving to reviewers to pick on when they compare it to the iPhone.
If you're going to make this revolutionary device, make it have all the features expected. I'm shocked Sprint and Palm let this feature go unadded.
I think they are being coy and not wanting to compare it to and classify it as "visual voicemail". I too think they would be stupid to not have a "visual voicemail"-type feature... and I don't think Palm or Sprint is that stupid. They have the technology and the know how to do it. I think it will be wrapped into the Synergy feature and called something else.
I hope Josh is right but I'm worried he's not! Visual voicemail is such an "expected" feature on the Pre. It's hard to imagine they wouldn't include something like VVM that's been part of the iPhone for 2 years and a feature on the Sprint Instinct since last summer. Google voice integration would be amazing!! Transcribed voicemails, imagine how useful that would be!
BTW, the tweet wasn't taken down. Palm just changed their name from "palm_inc" to "palm" on twitter. Here's the original reply from them:

IS visual voicemail an expected feature? Who still heavily uses voicemail? It seems like a gimick to me.
Voicemail is going to way of the dinosaur. Almost everyone I know would rather text/Email/IM me.
Unfortunately in my hands on review, the question relating VVM weren't answered, but I wasn't told that it was NOT available. I believe Palm may call it something else or it is part of Synergy.
Is VVM really a deal breaker? I doubt it. I have the In"Stink" and it is a cool feature but if it does or does not have it, I could care less. Everything else the Pre can do I think trumps VVM.
VVM nice feature, but who cares if it's not on the Pre. I hate voicemail anyway, like Sam said text/email me. I too had the InStink and VVM isn't all that it lets you select which voicemail you want to listen to but sadly you still have to listem. I'd rather something that transcribes voicemail and emails it to me for those who are still in the B.C. era and insist on leaving a voicemail.
No Visual Voice Mail would be such a step back, especially for the Pre! Isn't it supposed to beat the Iphone & Instinct which have had VVM for so long. I LOVE my VVM on the Instinct (It's the one thing they really got right), I personally screen most of my calls by letting them go to voice mail and then checking them as I have time in the order I choose and don't want to waste my time having to listen to or wade through all my messages. Not to mention I can never remember which number fast forwards, rewinds, skips, etc... I want to get to the important ones first, then maybe I'll check the number I don't recognize, plus being able to see the number of the person leaving the message is nice. I also don't want to have to waste time to "call in" to see who left a message and who didn't. Not to mention my family is still old school and hasn't gotten into texting, nor do they see the benifits of it... yet.
How great would it be if Palm/Sprint incorperated a visual type of voice mail into the whole "synergy" messaging. I would love the message transcribing like Google is doing. I would also love to be able to follow ALL of my messages regardless of the form they arrive in (isn't that what the Pre is all about anyways?). It the NOW network, and I want to SEE my messages NOW!!!

I would love it.. I'd get to see all my hotties live.
Realtime cellphone videoing is the NEXT WAY.
You all are going the way of the dinosaur.
Video Messages are the next evolutionary step that must be taken first.
No Visual voice mail is a deal breaker!!!! I Agree
No visual Voilmail no Pre.... just that simple!!!!
