Palm’s credible challenge to the iPhone

David Pogue, a long time aficionado of the iPhone/Apple, has written a very neutral article on the recognized success of the upcoming Palm Pre.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
"The Pre, which goes on sale first in the United States on Saturday and sometime in the second half of 2009 in Europe, is an elegant, joyous, multitouch smartphone that seems intended to be ‘‘iPhone, remixed.’’ That’s no surprise, really; its primary mastermind was Jon Rubenstein, who joined Palm after working with Steve Jobs of Apple, on and off, for 18 years. Once at Palm, he hired 250 engineers from Apple and elsewhere, and challenged them to out iPhone the iPhone."

Convenient you guys skipped over the battery life comments. Because that has been the one big factor that we didn't know about. And Pogue says it's terrible. Which sucks.
Kind of interesting that "Neutral" means the same as the person liking the Pre.
If someone does not like the Pre, they are labeled Apple fanbois by the Pre cultists.
Kind of like Fox News and Fair and Balanced.
bates:
I read in another review that other factors biasing battery life (besides weak cell signal that Palm cited) included having Bluetooth enabled, and push email. According to that article, if you disable BT when you're not using it, and set mail to pull every few minutes instead, the battery life sees a significant improvement.
Not Enamored:
So then what would you call his review? Just because someone likes a device doesn't mean they can't write a neutral review about it. He has no vested interest in the Pre, and could have just as easily written that it was a piece of garbage; however, it seems to have impressed him overall, and even then he still calls out a few of its shortcomings. I'd say that is about as neutral as it gets.
