Palm's Pre Sells Mad at Launch; Up to 100,000 Units Already Sold + 150,000 apps downloaded

According to a report today in the WSJ and engadget [via ZDnet], states that up to 100,000 units were sold. One of the stores I visited had 80 units allocated, all units sold out by 1:00. Not a bad start to a very great device. We expect the sales to pick up after seeing Apple's announcement of the new iPhones.
Many of the folks that were interested in buying an iPhone waited to see what updates the iPhone would have. Now, engadget has a voting poll up to see who is going to buy the iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre. Next weekends sales numbers should tell us everything. But with no guaranteed date for Tethering and MMS for the iPhone, I say the Palm Pre is a better bet.
Palm via Twitter also reports that over 150,000 apps downloaded in the first day alone!

The Pre revolution has begun and I am glad to be part of it.. !
I second that!
third! ha. But seriously, Apple did add a couple nice things to the iPhone. Since it can't multitask, it's all moot. iPhone is still a great phone, just not for power users.
This is why I'm glad there is now choice! The Pre is the first real iPhone competitor :)
For those who could care less about running apps in the background and want all the latest video games and fart apps, there's the iPhone. For people who want a phone that can be used more like a computer, and can handle their scatterbrained way of thinking, there's the Pre. It might not have as many apps, but It's doing way better than the iPhone did before it's SDK was released..
There's a few little omissions with the pre but they're all things that can be fixed with a software update (oh and a battery upgrade)
