Sprint, Best Buy & Radio Shack Reps forbid to have their own Pre?

According to another internal memo [via Sprint Gurus, again] Sprint employees, Advantage Club members and Third Party employees like Radio Shack and Best Buy are forbid to purchase an activated Pre, effective 6/29/09. This policy is effective until supply would allow it.

Maybe it isn't a supply problem -- maybe it's because they're afraid their reps won't get anything else done.
This was in place before the launch, at least for Sprint. Is the news that it's the same case for Radio Shack and Best Buy employees? Must suck to be them. I imagine employees at Radio Shack and Best Buy are all kids who loved gadgets and got jobs there in high school, never to advance to a real career, so to deprive them of an awesome gadget is just going to make them hate it (or want it more? could go either way).
I'm a Lead Retail Consultant in one of Sprint's corporate retail stores and I can definitely say I've encountered a few envious Sprint employees of those who were chosen to be Sprint Product Amabassadors like myself and now carry the Palm Pre as a privilege for not only training our fellow store teams members on it prior to launch the offical launch on 060609, but also to existing customer who upgrade to the Palm Pre as well as to potentially new customers. With our Read Now experience, I make my customers experts on the Palm Pre.
wow um ray..way to sound like a douche. no one is jealous of your pre. you are an advocate and you have a USED phone you get to keep. a used phone that everyone in the store played with. dealing with the device numerous times a day and seeing how many of them come back for repair/return....it's not that great of a device. when i started at sprint they tried to tell me the instinct was the iphone killer and tried to get me to get rid of my iphone. yeah that one failed and turned out to be CRAP. so then the pre comes out and is supposed to be the iphone killer and AGAIN they fail. there's only one thing the pre does that i would like my iphone to do and that is multi-tasking/cards. however i have my iphone jailbroken and have a program that lets me run programs in the background...so problem solved. =)
the real point here is...it's a PHONE! get over yourself. maybe you didn't intend it to come out the way it did....but to read your post is you saying "nana nana nana i got one and you didn't". it's all very "2 year old" if you read it again.
i also have to say...i wanted a pre pretty badly since it was announced back in january and i wasn't happy that we have to wait to get one because we are employees. but in the end i'm THRILLED they made us wait...it saved me wasting my money on this phone. i went from being psyched for this phone to being left unimpressed and wanting the BB Tour instead.
If ur unimpressed with the Pre, then why are you on prethinking.com and leaving a comment on one the articles? Get a life and shove the Tour up your ass.
Before training my team, I was the only one using the device and I know my seed stock Palm Pre full well mine was not a preowned/reconditioned unit. After the online trainings my team had taken as a prerequisite to the hands on training, the Palm Pre devices we used were the 2 demo units that had been sent to our store for display in the Innovations Center. All I was saying is I know quite a few Sprint employees who are like children the night before Christmas in anticipation of being able to obtain a Palm Pre for their own personal EWD. Like I said me, I haven't had any issues with my device. I would love to know who your SM/DM is.
Same here. I was an advocate for the Pre. The "seed device" was brand new. I had it no one else. It was at my desk. It is with me now. It has been a solid phone. I looked at the iPhone last year this time but 3G coverage for ATT in Ga only is in 3 cities: ATL, Savannah, and Columbus. I don't live or work in any of those cities. And I can't do the dial up speeds of Edge. Also the big thing for me besides coverage was ATT & Apple not allowing insurance on the phone. I've had a cracked Centro from a drop & a washed Samsung(both my wife's fault:). I'm thankful for insuance. Love my Pre.
