Best Buy $99 Error: Did you get a $99 Pre or got money back?
Too bad that the Best Buy $99 deal was only an error... Though I think they just pushed it out earlier than perviously planned, so I'm sure you can nab a Pre for $99 before the end of this year again. Though an error, I'd say a good error that boosted Pre sales.
So how many of you out there that was holding off until the Pre gets cheaper scored a $99 Pre yesterday? 1 2 3
And how many of you asked and actually got $100 back from Best Buy for your early Pre purchase? 1 2
Get down to your local Best Buy and you may get lucky.
[Thanks for the scan of the receipt, NinjuD]

It was an error? I was in a BB in Richmond, VA and saw it for myself. Did they release a statement? I must have missed something.
Ah...I see now. Wow, that's quite the error, huh?
I still got my $100 back today! I thought why not try. I walked in and there is was still tagged $99. So i went to returns it came up $199 she walked back got the tag and came back and adjusted the price and gave me the $100 back. So it doesn't hurt to try to anyone that thinks they still can't get it for $99.
Best Buy policy is that they will match any other Best Buy price. Look on line for the receipt and make them honor their claim. There is also some law that requires a company to return the difference if they put it on sale with in 30 days of purchase. Very this and take the documents with you when you go. http://www.intomobile.com/2009/07/28/deal-of-the-day-the-99-palm-pre-from-best-buy.html
Then, if it works for you, send happy millionaire thoughts for me into the air for a week or so.
that previous post was all backwards. They won't match any other best buy price. In fact, they changed their policy so that they don't even match their website officially anymore (although you can talk to the returns desk and they can match it, but they don't "officially" match it anymore). For example, they won't match a price that comes up 10 years later on the same item.
There is also no law anywhere that says they have to match any sale price in the last 30 days. It is however, best buy policy to do that, but it is not a law, it is a competitive tactic to make you feel safer in your purchase, and to put you at ease that you can buy it from best buy and it won't go on sale the next day. Furthermore, you can do that at just about any store w/ a return policy. If you see it cheaper within the eligible return period, if they don't match the price, you can just return yours and buy a new one for the cheaper price. Faced with that option, they will most likely match the sale price.
