GSM Palm Pre UK Release Date is October 30th? Similar Pricing and Tariffs to iPhone 3GS

We were tipped this morning by an O2 employee that the GSM Palm Pre on O2 is planned to be released on October 30th in the UK. O2 hasn't decided a solid price point, but the tipster did mention that it will be close to that of the iPhone 3GS. In addition, the tariffs will be the same as to the iPhone.

So there you have it, if it's true, the GSM Palm Pre debuts in the UK on October 30th.

[Thanks, anonymous tipster]

If this is true they had better get their App catalogue up to scratch or this will be a great phone with very few sales. At this end of the market the GSM world expects a good app catalogue if they are going to be interested.

With a decent app catalogue the Pre will win as many reviews as it loses when compared to the iPhone and NO other phone will have done that!

@AS147 - have you checked out PreCentral's list of "HomeBrew" apps? Palms may be small, but the homebrewers are going gung hoe <sp?> at creating all kinds of apps.

I was in an O2 shop earlier and asked them to check when they would have the Pre. After searching on her computer she said they'd have them in store on the 19th October.
