Palm Pixi kicks Palm Pre off homepage of Palm

Palm Pixi has officially taken over Palm's homepage, you'll find Pixi's specs, gallery, features, along with it's new Palm Pixi Artist Series skins. I'm not gonna lie, the more I look at the Pixi, the more I want one, the small screen size is the only thing holding me back.

If you're reading PreThinking, and didn't get a Pre, are you considering the Pixi now?

Alittle, I was looking at importing the Hero, but sprint has better coverage and 3g in my area. So im thinking Pre, but then they came out with this. And apparently the keyboard is better. and i really like the design of this. But the Pre has the bigger screen.

I'm really liking the Pixi. Here are the advantages I'd see it to have over the Pre:

1) Cheaper
2) Bigger keyboard
3) No moving parts
4) Better battery consumption (I'm assuming, based on smaller screen and less power-hungry processor...?)
5) It's got a sexy form factor, but compared to the Palm Pre, it's a wash (my opinion).

But there's a few important considerations, here:

1) No wifi... Huge.
2) Smaller screen. Whether capacitive touch will even be practical remains to be seen.
3) Smaller screen = fewer pixels, which may mean devs could run into some display issues.
4) Qualcomm processor in Pixi not quite as fast as the Texas Instruments processor in Palm Pre.
5) Target market: younger generation... just look at the video and you'll see what I mean. The background on Palm's website for the Pixi is a college campus. You do the math. It's not necessarily a BAD thing, but I don't fit that demographic.

... THAT SAID, I think the Pixi will far outshine any other phone in Sprint's lineup, including offerings from Blackberry and HTC. It's not meant to compete with the iPhone, so people won't be scrutinizing it based on that. I think this device will do very well. Kudos to Palm.

I have a pre, but I'm thinking about the Pixi for my daughter who is coveting my pre. :D

The Pixi looks like a well designed product, and I think that it could be more robust than the Pre. I'd likely be too much of a power user, running many apps at once and demanding a lot of the phone, so the Pre would make more sense for me, but the keyboard does look a lot nicer on the Pixi too. No wifi though? Seriously? Sheesh :P

I'd relish a design that incorporates the strong points of both phones - the Prixie?

This hasn't been released yet so the WIFI thing can be in this Phone..
