MLB Coming to Palm Pre

Not only do Palm Pre owners get NFL mobile live content soon but they also are going to get MLB Mobile Premium service on their repective devices. This is web based application but it really doesn't matter, because it is much better than Sporting News' version of Pro Baseball, which only gives you scores as an update.

Some highlights:

  • MLB.com Mobile Gameday Audio - Listen to live audio broadcasts of every Major League Baseball game through the final out of the 2009 World Series. Each game will offer the choice of listening to the home or away broadcasts without any blackout restrictions.
  • MLB.com Gameday - Follow every pitch of every game with a detailed graphic presentation and live statistics.
  • In-Game Video Highlights - Get real-time, high quality video highlights delivered directly to the smarphones quickly after the play happens on the field.
  • Expanded scoreboard - View live statistical data from every MLB game, including linescores, current runners on base and other game details.

MLB Mobile Premium will run you $14.99 per season, or $2.99 monthly. Pre owners can download the new app via http://wap.mlb.com.

Question of the day: What Apps do you need most on the Pre?

I'm hoping this will give Mojo Developers an idea on what apps users want most on the Pre. I'll start off the list: A good To-Do list app.

I'll update the post with the most "other apps" at the end of the day.

App Catalog to get Expansion of Applications, starting this week?

You heard it here first! Confirmed by a number of devs that got accepted in the Early Access program, developers can now submit their apps to Palm for consideration to be included in the Beta App Catalog, starting from today. Not knowing the averge approval time for app submissions, we should start seeing the influx of apps to the App Catalog starting from today, tomorrow, or within the next week.

The lack of apps on the Pre has been what pulled back many potential Pre consumers. With "thousands" of Early Access Devs and Palm opening the SDK to the public soon, the App Catalog will no doubt be exploding with great apps to compete with Apple's App store by the end of this Summer.

I predict that the App Catalog will expand from 30 apps to about 80 apps by the end of next week.

What was send to Early Access Developers:

We are pleased to announce a limited expansion of access to the Beta Application Catalog for our SDK early access partners. Starting today, you can submit your application for consideration to be included in the Catalog.

Palm Mojo SDK leaked on the web

Let's get straight to the point here. The Mojo SDK (for Win32) has been leaked to the web. Palm/sprint will probably pull the link, and chances are it's gone when you're reading this. It's confirm that this is the real deal.

Sprint Hosted download Link (Scanned, no virus, but takes a million years to download)

Link to the download links

This is how it all happened...

  1. Palm invites and doubles the number of early Mojo SDK developers on June 26th
  2. One of the lucky developer decides to leak the link to the Mojo SDK on IRC.
  3. @keithah picks it up and tweets it.
  4. Now we all have the Mojo SDK, well, at least the Windows users.

Click here for the Gallery of Screen Shots of the Mojo SDK running on Windows. [Provided by John, cause I don't have a Windows machine around me.]

App Catalog: 817,000+ downloads as of June 20th

Medialets is reporting that the Palm Pre has reached over 660,000+ App downloads in just less than 2 weeks after launch! That's not too shabby considering the App Catalog only has a mere 30 apps at the moment. With Palm taking in thousands of early developers in the coming weeks, and releasing the mojo SDK by the end of the Summer, be prepared for the influx of Fart Apps!

I just added up all the app downloads myself, and it's now 817,656 App downloads as of June 20th 4:23PM ET.
