Mojo SDK goes public by the end of this Summer?

We just got an update on the mojo SDK from @Chuq on the Palm Dev Blog. It looks like we'll have open access to the SDK by the end of the Summer, at least that's what Palm is aiming for. In addition, they'll be taking in thousands of new developers to the early SDK program in the coming weeks and also loosen the chains a bit to allow "early Mojo developers to communicate more freely with the rest of the world". So if you've applied for the early SDK, there's a good chance you'll be admitted in the program in the next few weeks.

We all understand that the sooner Palm pushes out the SDK, the better shot they got in competing with Apple's App Store. But the truth is, the SDK tools and developer services just aren't "mature" yet for the public.

Palm Pre Early SDK: New WebOS Screenshots

Click on it for the whole Gallery!

This just in from an anonymous source: Several beautiful shots showing Palm’s WebOS in action. In one shot, you can see the following items under Preferences>software: Bluetooth, calculator, calendar, camera, contacts, date and time, device info, doc view. It also has Microsoft Exchange, Facebook and Google accounts for Synergy. Another is Outgoing Mail Server authentication. Next are ring tones and volume. There is also of course, Google maps. We also have a screen shot of the Phone app in action. In one emulator shot, we see the battery/Wi-Fi overlaid on the desktop which is translucent in the back ground with the ‘cards’ app running. The Opacity of apps hovering over each other is very apparent and a welcomed way to navigate a phone.

If the Pre is able to look this good within applications and other menus, the Pre is going to give iPhone and all other manufactures a serious run for their money. Good job Palm.

More shots in the gallery for your enjoyment (drooling)

First batch of developers already working with early SDK

Palm Developer Network Blog has posted an update to the early SDK program announced last week. If you've sent in an application and haven't heard from Palm yet, worry not, a small group of developers was accepted late last week, another batch will be in early this week, and more are being admitted to the program each week.

The first lucky batch of developers are giving feedback on the SDK, to mature the SDK tools for the rest of the world. As Palm too understands how significant 3rd party apps will be for the success of the Pre, "But we are eager to get the SDK into everyone’s hands, as we know that third-party applications will play a huge role in the success of webOS and Pre."

I'm still waiting for my invite... *Cross fingers*
